When I went to the post office this morning the last thing I expected to pick up was a #voxbox from Influenster. I had completely forgotten about the survey I did a few weeks ago and now I am the proud owner of the Rimmel London x Rita Ora collab #ShadesOfBlack. Just to clarify: I received this box for free from Influenster to give you guys my thoughts and opinions on these new products. In this box I recieved three #OhMyGloss lip glosses, three nail varnishes and the new Wonder-Fully Real Lashes mascara.
Shades of Black #OhMyGloss! Lip Gloss by Rita Ora
I’m never really one for wearing lipgloss on a daily basis, so when I received these products I was a little sceptical. The colours aren’t really ones I would wear, apart form black, but again, I would only ever wear that shade as a matte lip colour.
When I swatched the colours I was pleasantly surprised at how pigmented the colours were, all accept the shade 820 Midnight which for me was a little more opaque. None the less, I feel like these glosses would work perfectly as matte lipstick toppers – I used the shade 820 Rita’s Black on top of my go-to black matte liquid lipstick and honestly it made the look even better.
The formula is thick, but not sticky and it feels as though it will last all day with only a few applications throughout the day. I only wore the shades for a few hours and only needed to top up once, which for glosses in my opinion is top notch.
I would highly recommend these products as toppers if you’re looking to add a little glam to your vampy winter looks.
Shades of Black 60 Seconds Nail Polish by Rita Ora
When I saw these nail varnish’s in my #voxbox I was over the moon. I live for Rimmel London’s nail varnishes and they have been my favourite nail colours for as long as I remember. I currently own 16 and 4 of them are from Rita Ora’s last collection with Rimmel London, so I had high expectations.
My absolute favourite has to be shade from the three has to be shade 906 Matte Black. I love matte nail varnish and getting that signature look without the need for a sticky matte top coat makes me very happy. The colour itself is beautiful and the matte shade only needed one coat to look perfect. The other shades (Midnight Ting a dark purple and Darkest Desires a warm mulled wine) require more than one coat, but the large applicator makes them easy to apply to the nails and gorgeous to look at.
The varnish dries quickly (as the name would suggest) and I find that within minutes of painting my nails I can get on with the rest of my day and not have to worry about smudging, which happens a lot with other colours because I’m so impatient.
I definitely would recommend these nail colours, they’re top notch and the colours are perfect for this time of year. This collection is definitely breathing life into my vampy desires.
Rimmel London, Wonder-Fully Real Lashes Mascara
Rimmel London have forever been my go-to high street brand when it comes to mascara. I always remember being a little girl going to the local Boots with my mum and always picking up a new mascara, even though I had no idea what it really did or how to use it.
Now I’m older and know a little bit more about what goes on my face and eyes, I can say that I love this mascara. I’ve only used it a couple of times now, but it makes my lashes look beautiful. I have fairly straight lashes that need as much help as they can get from curling and mascara and I found that this product, like most other Rimmel London mascaras works perfectly for me.
The brush is long and not too thick, which I like. I find I can get it right into the corners and really curl out those hard to reach lashes. Another bonus point for Liz: it works well on lower lashes. Sometimes I find that the bigger applicators makes it super hard to do your lower lashes without fear of getting mascara everywhere, but this works.
The nail colours are definitely my favourite things and I’ll be wearing them all year round, what are your favourites? But what do you guys think? Will you be splashing out on this new collection? Is it worth your money?
