On the second day of Blogmas my blog gave to me… The overwhelming feeling of festivity. It’s only the second day of my first ever Blogmas and honestly, I’m loving it. Today’s post is all about my top 10 favourite Christmas films. Now, just like a lot of people I LOVE Christmas. It’s my favourite time of the year and to top it off, I love the festive films.
Honestly, I watch these films all year round, but when it’s nippy outside and you’re wrapped up in a fluffy blanket with a cup of gingerbread tea, they’re perfect. So here’s my top 10!
MY TOP 10 CHRISTMAS FILMS
- Arthur Christmas
- The Santa Clause
- How The Grinch Stole Christmas
- The Snowman
- The Gremlins
- Jingle All The Way
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- It’s a Wonderful Life
- The Polar Express
Now let’s talk about them, starting with my number 10. The Polar Express is the one I literally just finished watching and I honestly forgot how much I loved this film. It’s so beautiful and the story makes my little heart flutter. It’s definitely a feel good film.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a classic, beautiful film. This classic is one of my all time favourites. I watched it for the first time when I was little with my dad and honestly, it brought a tear to my eye. It’s a beautiful film.
The Nightmare Before Christmas. This classes as a Christmas film right? Of course! I start watching this before Halloween and it puts me in the perfect mood for Christmas, plus who doesn’t love Jack Skeleton?
Arnie makes Jingle All The Way an absolute gem. It’s hilarious, heart warming and so much fun. I have so many memories of this film that this film instantly puts me in the Christmas spirit.
Now, The Gremlins is a very controversial Christmas film. But I love this film so much. It makes me laugh and cry and I feel so happy when I watch it, in a different way to the rest of the films. I had a love/hate relationship with the Gremlins when I was younger, but now, it’s alllllll love.
The Snowman is another classic. Do I need to say more? It’s a beautiful, heart warming film, that I highly, highly recommend.
One of the best family films I think for Christmas is How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It has an amazing message and Jim Carrey is honestly a God in this film. I can’t have a Christmas without watching The Grinch at least 10 times, so go watch it.
The Santa Clause is AMAZING, so amazing I couldn’t decide which one of the three I loved the most. Scott Calvin is the ultimate Santa and it is up there for me. I watch these films every Christmas (sometimes even when it isn’t Christmas), and it’s probably my top trilogy of all time, which is a big shout because I love LOTR.
Will Ferrel. Elves. Christmas. Singing. Do I need to say more? If you haven’t seen this you’re missing out. Buddy the Elf is my second favourite little (big) elf and I love it so much. I’m going to watch it right now.
Let’s talk about my absolute favourite Christmas film of all time at the moment, Arthur Christmas. I started loving this film as soon as I’d seen it. This came out in 2012 and it’s so good. It doesn’t have the amazing nostalgic memories as some of the others, but it’s so feel good. It puts a modern twist on Christmas and it’s so exciting. The child in me comes alive EVERY time I watch it.
So what are your guys favourite festive films? I’d love some more to add to my list!
