Happy Tuesday everyone! I’ve left this post until *very* late and I apologise to myself for being lazy, but today has been hectic and I had an appointment with my dermatologist about my psoriasis today, and after talking to him about winter, my skin and all my problems, I decided I’d sit down and write a winter skincare post for those of you who have problematic skin (like me!)
You guys probably know by now that I love the winter. I love the cold weather, and I love everything about it, apart from one thing – the effect the weather has on my skin. I already suffer from *really bad* psoriasis and my skin already hates the cold weather because my psoriasis gets so much worse. I find my skin tightens up, and my psoriasis plaques cracks and then it hurts like hell – my major winter problem.
Now, I’m not just talking about face-care today, I’m talking about from your toes to your nose, and we can’t forget how important it is to take care of our skin. I’m not going to sugar coat it, if you’re skin is like mine, it’s hard. I spend nights wishing for clear skin that I know I’ll probably never have, I itch, and I crack, and I peel and I sometimes want to rip my legs off, but there are ways to combat it, and that’s what I’m here to tell you about! I hope you enjoy!
When it comes to moisturising my body I live by Cetraben. I got this moisturiser from my Dermatologist about a year ago, and I live by it. It’s literally the only moisturiser that actually keeps my skin moisturised. I usually suffer from excessively dry skin due to my skin condition and Cetraben is the only thing that keeps me feeling silky smooth (kind of.)
Now, I for one, live by exfoliator every day of the year due to my psoriasis. But when it comes to the winter it is very important. I live by Lush’s Rub, Rub, Rub, which I will warn you. If you suffer from psoriasis like me, it will burn because it’s sea salt. But it works, honestly, as long as you can deal with the pain.
Now, I know this ISN’T usually in a skincare post, but I feel like we need to focus on it for this winter version. Keeping your lips moisturised this winter is imperative. I know I’m terrible at remembering to take my lip balm with me, but I know when I forget it, I regret it (she’s a poet!) I’m boring, and I currently use Nivea and Burt’s Bee’s, because they’re what in my bag.
So there we have it! What are your winter skincare go-to’s? Do you have problematic skin like me? What are some of your go-to products? Let me know, I’m always dying to try new things to help!
